Denver, the capital of Colorado is just a short drive from Boulder.
Getting to Know Denver, Colorado

Denver, Colorado is the capital of the state and one of the most popular cities in the entire country. This city-county is a little less than 13 miles eastward of the Rocky Mountain foothills. One unique aspect about Denver is that it is 5,280 feet above sea level, hence, earning the city the nickname of the Mile-High City. The population is estimated to be over 600,000 people, making it 25th in the overall state.

Many people stop and visit Denver while visiting Boulder and other Colorado cities. What would make an enjoyable itinerary in Denver? First understand that Denver is a very large and populated city, and it continues to boom around the downtown area. Characteristics of the city include its tree-line streets and its city parks. There are over 200 city parks in this city alone. There are 20,000 acres of clean land here. Housing in Denver is varied and includes everything from postmodern works to Victoria-style mansions.

Immediately after leaving Denver International Airport, visit the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau for some city information. From there, you can book a luxury hotel in Denver, such as the Brown Palace Hotel or the Hotel Monaco. Bear in mind that many of the hotels near the downtown area are designed for business travelers, not tourists.

Some of the top attractions on Denver include the Denver Art Museum, the U.S. Mint, the Denver Mountain Parks and the Downtown Aquarium. There are also many tour locations in Denver (far more than in surrounding areas); some of the most popular spots include the Civic Center Park, the Denver Performing Arts Complex and Larimer’s Square.

Why not take a daytrip to Denver, Colorado? The state capital is a must-see location while visiting Boulder or one of the other cities in the Centennial State.
