The Best Places for Shopping in Boulder, Colorado

Boulder, Colorado is an eclectic city all around and the shopping scene is no different. There are numerous stores and malls that offer souvenirs, merchandise and designer-quality items. Why not stop and buy some knickknacks to commemorate your arrival?

For starters, check out Twenty Ninth Street next to Canyon Boulevard. This mall is a new shopping center that focuses on entertainment, clothing, appliances, food and snacks and local events. Some of the mall stores here include Borders Books, Eddie Bauer, Ruby’s Diner, MontBell and Century Theaters. Flat-Iron Crossing is another mall near Boulder. This location is about nine miles southeast of the city center around Broomfield off 36.

For arts and craft stores, Art Source Central is a good stop. Other craft stores of interest include Boulder Arts and Crafts Cooperative and Niwot Antiques. For fashion, Alpaca Connection offers natural-fiber clothing, while Rocky Mountain Kids sells colorful children’s wear. If you are looking for souvenirs, then Jackalope and Company will not disappoint. Where the Buffalo Roam and Old Tibet also sell souvenirs for tourists. Don’t forget the liquor! Boulder Wine Merchant and Liquor Mart can keep you happy in your hotel room for hours on end.

If kitchenware is on your list, then Peppercorn is your next stop. This store has been called the “Smithsonian of cook stores” and sells everything from silverware to appliances to pasta makers. The Boulder Army Store and Boulder Mountaineering Store are the best stops for camping supplies, sporting goods and other outdoor equipment. Lastly, there is the huge establishment called McGuckin Hardware, which claims to have 200,000 items in stock—more than any other location in the world!

As you can see, there is a nice mix of the practical and fantastic in Boulder. Make plans to shop here whether you are a tourist or a new resident!
