Downtown Boulder is always bustling with activity and nighttime is no exception. If you are new to the area, or just visiting and are looking for the happening nightlife spots, then you have come to the right place. The following list should help point you in the right direction of nighttime entertainment so that you will not find yourself bored at home next Friday night.
The best place to get some nighttime entertainment is probably on Pearl Street near the mall. On warm spring and cool fall nights, you are sure to see a number of talented street performers. Talented musicians, jugglers, unicyclists, magicians are usually around to entertain. Most performers must obtain a permit to perform, so feel free to tip for a good show.
If nightclubs are what you are seeking, they can be few and far between. Bently’s Nightclub is a nice spot for dancing, and tends to attract an older (read not college-aged) crowd for dancing. Saturday is usually set to swing music. Fox Theater and Café is another fun spot in Boulder as you can hear live music nightly and enjoy three full bars.
Bars are more prevalent in the area than clubs. For a younger scene, check out the Walrus bar or the Sink both of which are open until 2 a.m. If cigars are your thing, you can check out Johnny’s Cigar Bar which has some of the choicest cigars as well as microbrews, fresh-air ventilation, and top shelf martinis. All of this is mixed with a little live jazz.
Craving some late night eats? Check out Zolo Grill for some entrées with real zip. Jax Fish House is a local favorite and open until 11 p.m. on Saturdays. There is plenty of nightlife in downtown Boulder and the surrounding areas. Come out and embrace the night. Carpe nocturne!
