Downtown Boulder, Colorado has its fair share of well-known and fun annual events such as the Boulder International Film Festival, the Boulder Creek Festival, and the Boulder International Fringe Festival.  However, there are some lesser-known but just as fun annual events in the downtown area.  Don’t miss out!  Educate yourself about all the area’s little-known but worthwhile events.

The Boulder Public Library puts on many free concerts throughout the year in their canyon theater.  Every third Tuesday sees live music performed.  The theater also hosts other musical performances throughout the year.  The library also offers storytelling events, exhibits and even cinema fun such as Teen Outdoor Movie Night with various screenings.  Other local events to look into are the Boulder International Folk Dancers event and the Amateur Radio Club event.

Fall sees a number of fun events.  The Downtown Boulder Fall Festival has been celebrating Oktoberfest for more than twenty years with food, rides, games and artists.  The Munchkin Masquerade is not to be missed if cuteness is what you are after.  Every Halloween the tiny ghouls, princesses, and superheroes descend on Pearl Street, accompanied by their parent’s (of course).  More than 50 businesses get into the holiday spirit by passing out candy and treats to the happy, costumed kids.

There is so much to do and see during the Christmas season, and so many fun events scheduled. Boulder’s Switch to the Holidays takes place near the end of November.  Santa himself turns on the Christmas lights brightening up all downtown with holiday cheer.  Be sure not to miss the St. Nick on the Bricks event or the Christmas Parade on the 23rd of December.

You now know some fun but lesser-known annual events that downtown Boulder has to offer.  Get out there and spread the word!
