Downtown Boulder, Colorado has its fair share of well-known and fun annual
events such as the Boulder International Film Festival, the Boulder Creek
Festival, and the Boulder International Fringe Festival. However, there are
some lesser-known but just as fun annual events in the downtown area. Don’t
miss out! Educate yourself about all the area’s little-known but worthwhile
events.
The Boulder Public Library puts on many free concerts throughout the year in
their canyon theater. Every third Tuesday sees live music performed. The
theater also hosts other musical performances throughout the year. The library
also offers storytelling events, exhibits and even cinema fun such as Teen
Outdoor Movie Night with various screenings. Other local events to look into
are the Boulder International Folk Dancers event and the Amateur Radio Club
event.
Fall sees a number of fun events. The Downtown Boulder Fall Festival has
been celebrating Oktoberfest for more than twenty years with food, rides, games
and artists. The Munchkin Masquerade is not to be missed if cuteness is what
you are after. Every Halloween the tiny ghouls, princesses, and superheroes
descend on Pearl Street, accompanied by their parent’s (of course). More than
50 businesses get into the holiday spirit by passing out candy and treats to the
happy, costumed kids.
There is so much to do and see during the Christmas season, and so many fun
events scheduled. Boulder’s Switch to the Holidays takes place near the end of
November. Santa himself turns on the Christmas lights brightening up all
downtown with holiday cheer. Be sure not to miss the St. Nick on the Bricks
event or the Christmas Parade on the 23rd of December.
